“She hath done what she could:” Mark 14:18 Many of us grew up in small farming communities like Williamsport where people had very little money. I babysat as a teenager so I could buy my small Kodak Brownie Camera that I used for photos in this blog. I worked my way through college, first in the college kitchen and later in the denominational office. Every now and then, a member of the Christian Church (now Church of Christ in Christian Union) that I attended came up to me and gave me a dollar. She said she knew it wasn’t much but she wanted to contribute to my studies at Bible College. It wouldn’t have meant more to me if she had given me a million dollars. She was a woman with nine children and at that time had grandchildren. She was like a busy butterfly, flitting about. She was always in a hurry and spoke in a hurried manner. Sometimes she didn’t finish sentences or even words. She could often be seen riding her bicycle uptown to the grocery store or post office. She showed up at church once, unknowingly wearing an apron and another time wearing fuzzy house slippers. My opinion is that she is busily fluttering about heaven today and possibly wearing an apron and fuzzy house slippers. That’s probably not true, but it’s a nice thought anyway. : ) This blog is dedicated to the memory of Kathryn Frazier and all of those who are like her. ©Marilyn Francis Ferguson 2021 Photography/graphics by Michele Ferguson Schuck
